Biography
Prof. Jia Qu is an internationally renowned expert in ophthalmology and optometry. He is the Honorary Chief Dean of the Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, and the Chief Director of the Eye Hospitals Group. He also serves as the Chairman of Eye Valley @China. From May 2002 to October 2015, he was the President of Wenzhou Medical University. Prof. Qu has led over 100 research projects, including the national "973" project as Chief Scientist and key projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published nearly 300 SCI-indexed papers and holds 50 authorized invention patents. His groundbreaking work has earned him two Second-Class Prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, both as first-ranked contributor. In addition to his scientific achievements, Prof. Qu is a highly respected educator. He has authored 21 national guided planning teaching materials, including the award-winning textbook Ophthalmology, which received the First National Excellent Textbook Award. He has also been a three-time recipient of the Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award. Prof. Qu’s contributions have been recognized globally. He received the Eye and Vision Excellence in Leadership Award from the American Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) in 2012 and honorary doctorate degrees from the New England College of Optometry (2002) and the State University of New York (2013).
