2025 WMU Scholarship Admission Guide for Postgraduate Students
Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a provincially-administered university in Zhejiang Province. Established in 2015 through a joint initiative by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the National Health Commission, and the Ministry of Education, WMU was recognized as a Priority Development University in Zhejiang Province by 2017. In 2023, it was designated as a High-Level University under construction in Zhejiang Province.
WMU ranks 72nd in the ESI Chinese University Rankings, with 14 disciplines ranked within the top 1% globally. Among these, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology, and Toxicology are ranked in the global top 1%. The university holds a prominent position in domestic and international academic spheres, evidenced by accolades such as ranking 5th among independent medical colleges in the 2024 WUSHULIAN Ranking, placing within the 501–600 range in the 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and securing a position of 801–1000 in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE).
1. Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
1. Be a non-Chinese citizen in good physical and mental health.
2. Meet the following age and academic qualifications:
o Master’s Program: Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with excellent academic performance and be under 35 years of age at the time of application.
o Doctoral Program: Hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) with excellent academic performance and be under 40 years of age at the time of application.
3. Meet language proficiency requirements:
o English-Medium Programs:
§ Non-English-speaking applicants must submit a TOEFL score ≥70 (≥15 per section), IELTS ≥6.0 (≥5.0 per section), or equivalent proof (e.g., Duolingo ≥105).
§ Applicants from English-speaking countries or those whose prior degree was taught in English must submit a medium-of-instruction certificate from their previous institution.
o Clinical Master’s Programs: Provide an HSK Level 4 certificate with a score ≥180 or equivalent Chinese proficiency.
2. Application Materials
Submit the following documents online (*mandatory items marked with *):
1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form
2. *Valid passport copy
3. *Notarized highest education diploma/certificate (or expected graduation proof for current students)
4. *Academic transcripts (translated into Chinese/English if original is in another language)
5. *Language proficiency certificate (as specified in Section 1)
6. *Study/Research Plan in Chinese or English (see Attachment 1 for reference)
7. *Two recommendation letters signed and stamped by professors/associate professors
8. *Completed Foreigner Physical Examination Form (valid for 6 months; see Attachment 2)
9. *Non-criminal record certificate (issued within 6 months prior to application)
10. *Two-inch white-background photo
11. Other supporting materials (if applicable)
3. Scholarship Details
· Master’s Degree:
o Tuition waiver.
o No stipend or subsidies; students cover accommodation, insurance, and other expenses.
· PhD Degree:
o Tuition waiver + monthly allowance of CNY 3,000/month.
o Students cover accommodation, insurance, and other expenses.
· MD-PhD Dual Degree:
o Tuition waiver + monthly allowance (CNY 2,500/month for Master’s phase; CNY 3,000/month for PhD phase).
o Students cover accommodation, insurance, and other expenses.

Notes:
1. Applications are processed only after the non-refundable application fee (CNY 400) is received.
2. Applicants who previously applied for the Chinese Government Scholarship may reapply, provided they select a different supervisor.
4. Fees
· Tuition:
o Master’s: CNY 42,000/year
o PhD: CNY 50,000/year
· Insurance: CNY 800/year
· Accommodation: CNY 4,400/year (shared double room)
· Application Fee: CNY 400 (non-refundable)
5. Admissions Majors and Duration

6. Admission Process
1. Preliminary review of materials by the admissions department.
2. Re-examination (interview and Chinese proficiency test) by relevant colleges.
3. Final results announced by the School of International Studies. Admitted students receive an Admission Notice and JW202 Form for visa processing.
