Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), established in 1912 in Zhejiang Province, is a distinguished provincial university. In 2023, it became a co-developed university supported by the National Health Commission and the Zhejiang Provincial Government and joined the province's “High-Level University Construction” initiative. WMU is among China's pioneering universities authorised to award master’s and doctoral degrees, with 15 disciplines ranked in the top 1% globally according to ESI, including Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology, and Toxicology, which are ranked in the top 0.1%.
The university maintains partnerships with more than 170 international universities and aims to be a world-class medical institution.
Accredited in 1993 to recruit international students, WMU established the School of International Education in 2006 and now offers five full-English degree programs in clinical medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and biotechnology.
About the 2026 Summer Internship Programme
The WMU One-Month Short-Term Internship Programme (Summer 2026) provides international medical/biomedical students with opportunities to gain structured clinical exposure, research training, academic workshops, and cross-cultural experience in one of China’s leading medical universities.
Duration: 4 weeks (July19-August 16, 2026)
Programme Track: Clinical Internship Track (Hospital Observership & Ward Exposure)
Research Internship Track (Basic/Translational Research Labs)
Hybrid Track (Clinical + Research + Academic Activities)
Programme Objectives
•Provide structured exposure to clinical departments and hospital workflow.
•Introduce students to basic and translational research methodologies.
•Enhance students’ medical knowledge through seminars, case discussions, and workshops.
•Facilitate international exchange and multicultural learning.
•Build academic networking opportunities with WMU faculty.
•Provide participants with a WMU Internship Completion Certificate.
Eligibility Criteria
•Undergraduate or graduate students in:
◦Medicine (MBBS/MD)

◦Other health-related fields
•Proficient in English (instruction language)
•In good academic standing
•Able to commit full-time for 4 weeks

Who Can Apply
This programme is open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in higher education institutions outside China, as well as employed teachers and early-career researchers.

lTranscript (in English), Scanned or electronic copy of the official transcript issued by your current university;
lCurrent student status certificate;
lOrdinary passport within the validity period (Scanned colour copy);
lApplicants whose native language is not English speaking should provide scanned colour copies of proof of English proficiency.
lOther supplementary documents as required by WMU.

lStep 1: Applicants should click to apply for the “2026 Summer Clinical Program”, fill in the application form, and upload all the application materials in the online application system: (https://wmu.at0086.cn/student).
lStep 2: The online application system will issue the invitation letter once the application requirements are met. Please check the online application system account or email frequently during the application period.
lStep 3: Check your email mailbox, including junk/spam, frequently for the Visa Application Form for Study in China (DQ Form) (Note: The admission standard is receiving the DQ Form).
lStep 4: Check your email frequently for any further notices from WMU.
