Biography:

Professor Lü Fan, an esteemed professor and chief physician, serves as the Director of the Ophthalmic & Optometric Medical Department at Wenzhou Medical University and the National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Diseases. Holding a Doctoral degree, Professor Lü has dedicated many years to research in myopia, functional visual mechanisms, ocular imaging, and disease progression. She has spearheaded numerous national key research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, National Natural Science Foundation, National Science and Technology Support Plan, Major Scientific Instruments Special Projects, Sino-U.S. Collaboration Projects by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education's 111 Plan. Her prolific research has been published in over 300 papers in prestigious journals such as PNAS, Nature Communications, Mucosal Immunology, Allergy, IOVS, and Ophthalmology, with citations exceeding 7,000 and an H-index of 46. Her contributions have been recognized with the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class), and National Teaching Achievement Award (Second Class).

Professor Lü’s team pioneered the ophthalmic optometry medical specialty and healthcare system, establishing a comprehensive talent training system represented by higher education in optometry medicine and an eye health medical service system represented by specialized ophthalmology hospitals. They have also developed four national research platforms: National Key Laboratory, National Engineering Technology Research Center, National Clinical Research Center, and National Medical Products Administration Key Laboratory. The team has made significant strides in myopia control strategies in China, active eye health, and advancing eye health to primary care.

Research Interests:

1. Fundamental and clinical research on myopia correction.

2. Ocular imaging technology and diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.

3. Binocular vision function, accommodation function, refractive surgery, low vision rehabilitation, refractive correction, and contact lens-related vision function research.
