Biography

Dr. Jin-San Zhang is a Professor and PhD Supervisor at Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) and a Principal Research Scientist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. After earning his PhD from Jilin University in 1992, he worked at the National Key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology at Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and later advanced to Associate Professor, serving as a Master’s Supervisor in 1995. At the end of 1996, he joined the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, recognized as the world's leading hospital.

Since 2015, Dr. Zhang has served as a Professor at WMU, becoming the Executive Director of the International Collaborative Center on Growth Factor Research in 2018. In 2019, he assumed responsibility for basic research at the Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Interventional Pulmonology, and in 2022, he was appointed as an independent Principal Investigator at WMU's Medical Research Center.

Dr. Zhang's research focuses on stem cell mobilization and regulation, lung injury repair and fibrosis, and the impact of cell origin on cancer progression and therapeutic response.

Research Focus

1. Stem Cell Mobilization and Regulation:

o Mechanisms of mesenchymal-epithelial stem cell heterogeneity and interaction in lung injury repair and regeneration.

o Roles of stem cells in lung fibrosis and cancer therapy.

2. Tumor Biology:

o Investigating the influence of cell origin on cancer progression and therapeutic response to advance precision diagnosis and therapy.
