Biography

Dr. Jian-Hong Zhu is a full professor at Wenzhou Medical University, where he also serves as an advisor for PhD and postdoctoral training. He is the director of the Institute of Nutrition and Diseases, deputy director of the Institute of Geriatric Neurology, and director of the Center for Research at the School of Public Health. Dr. Zhu received his PhD from Cornell University and completed postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute and Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on understanding the molecular and genetic bases of neurological disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease, as well as the functions of selenoproteins in the brain and the mechanisms behind these disorders. His laboratory also explores the preventive and therapeutic roles of selenium-containing compounds. Dr. Zhu’s work is supported by grants, including those from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the NSF of Zhejiang.

· Dr. Zhu has published nearly 70 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals such as Journal of Neuroinflammation and Journal of Nutrition.

· He has also edited and authored 4 books (chapters), focusing on nutrition, neuroscience, and molecular biology.

Teaching

Dr. Zhu mentors PhD and postdoctoral students, focusing on neurological disorders, molecular biology, and the therapeutic potential of selenium in neurodegenerative diseases. His lab provides training in cutting-edge research techniques and interdisciplinary approaches in both basic and applied medical sciences.
