  • Notice on the Thesis Defense and Degree Information Submission for the First Half of 2025

  • To all postgraduate students applying for thesis defense in the first half of 2025:

    The thesis evaluation for the first half of 2025 has officially concluded. Please carefully review the following information regarding thesis defense procedures and degree information submission:

    1. Eligibility

    Only students whose dissertations have passed evaluation and who have obtained approval from both their academic supervisor and the relevant professional guidance committee may proceed with thesis defense. All applicants intending to obtain a degree in the first half of 2025 must submit their degree information on time.

    2. Timeline

    · All thesis defenses must be completed by June 5th.

    (Please refer to your college's specific notice; Pre-defense must be completed before May 21st.)

    · All graduation materials must be submitted to your college by June 9th.

    3. Thesis Defense

    (i) Dissertation Revision

    Please revise your dissertation based on the reviewers’ feedback under the guidance of your supervisor.

    Refer to Appendix 1 for formatting requirements and complete Appendix 2.

    Feedback can be obtained via the following:

    1. Off-campus Blind Review:

    Visit the Postgraduate Degree Review System (http://wmu.lwglxt.com/), and download the “One-Time Review.”

    2. Internal Evaluation:

    Log in to the same system, select your thesis topic, and view evaluation results on the right-hand side.

    (ii) Defense Application

    1. Submission of Application:

    You must complete a pre-defense before the formal defense. Pre-defense arrangements will be made by your college.

    (Please complete the Application Form for Defense.)

    2. Approval and Signatures:

    Your application must be signed by both your academic supervisor and the Chair of the Professional Committee of Graduate Education.

    4. Post-Defense Requirements

    (i) Submission of Paper Documents

    Submit the printed materials to your college according to the school’s schedule. Materials must be sorted according to the following categories:

    · Full-time Doctoral Academic Program

    · Full-time Master’s Academic Program

    · Full-time Master’s Professional Program

    (Refer to Appendix 3.)

    *Note: The final printed version of your thesis must include signed Statement of Originality and Authorization Statement on the last page. Scanned signatures will not be accepted.

    (ii) Submission of Final Electronic Thesis

    1. Submission Method:

    Upload the final electronic version (PDF format) to the university library portal before June 19th (http://lib.wmu.edu.cn/): “Service” → “Dissertation” → “Submit Final Thesis”(Refer to Appendix 4.)

    2. Important Notes:

    o All final versions, including confidential theses, must be archived with the library.

    o If confidentiality is required, complete the Application for Confidentiality of Postgraduate Dissertation and specify the confidentiality period. Submit this form to your college; otherwise, the thesis will not be treated as confidential.

    o The submitted electronic version will be used for random inspections by the State Council and Zhejiang Province. It must match the final printed version in every aspect.

    o PDF conversion software is available in the “Software Download” section of the library website.

    5. Submission of Degree Information

    Please submit your degree information accurately and on time in accordance with the “Degree Information Submission Guide.”

    Failure to comply may result in errors or delays, for which the applicant will be held responsible.

    Notes:

    1. Print the Basic Information Form on A4 paper, sign it personally, and submit it to your college along with other defense materials.

    2. The uploaded electronic photo must match the photo used on your degree certificate.

    3. Refer to the Data Structure and Code Manual of the Degree Award Annual Report for submission codes.

    6. Additional Requirements

    Full-time Ph.D. students, full-time Master’s students must attach an official academic transcript bearing the red student status seal. All applicants must strictly follow the thesis defense procedures outlined by Wenzhou Medical University.

    Any falsification will result in disqualification.
