Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a provincially administered institution located in Zhejiang Province. In 2015, it was collaboratively established by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the National Health Commission, and the Ministry of Education. By 2017, it received recognition as a Priority Development University within Zhejiang Province, and in 2023, it was designated as a High-Level University for development in the same province.
WMU ranked 72nd nationwide in the ESI China University Rankings, with 15 disciplines entering the global top 1%. Among them, Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology are ranked within the top 0.1% worldwide. The university was ranked 8th among medical universities in the 2025 U.S. News rankings, 95th in the 2025 Wu Shulian Rankings, 501–600 in the 2025 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and 800–1001 in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE).
I. Eligibility Requirements
1.Applicants should generally be 18–30 years old, meet the requirements of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, and be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid ordinary foreign passport.
(1) According to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China, individuals who were born abroad and acquired foreign nationality at birth, with one or both parents being Chinese citizens who have settled abroad, do not hold Chinese nationality. Since 2021, such applicants applying as international students for undergraduate studies must, in addition to meeting other admission requirements, hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least four (4) years, and must have resided abroad for at least two (2) years within the most recent four years (up to April 30 of the year of enrollment). Residence abroad of 9 months within a year may be counted as one full year, subject to entry and exit stamps.
(2) Residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan who have emigrated and acquired foreign nationality and apply as international students must also meet the requirements stated in (1). 2.Applicants must have completed high school or possess an equivalent academic qualification, with academic performance (including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) meeting admission requirements. Applicants with excellent results in the university’s foundation program will be given priority.
3.Applicants must be in good physical health and meet the specific admission requirements of the applied major: No severe myopia, color blindness, or color weakness; Normal hearing, sense of smell, and speech ability; Applicants with infectious diseases (such as hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, tuberculosis), serious chronic illnesses, or other conditions that may affect completion of studies may apply only after full recovery; Applicants with mental or psychological disorders are not recommended to apply. Applicants found unfit for study during the entrance medical examination will have their admission cancelled. The Dental Surgery (BDS) program does not accept left-handed applicants.
II. Application Materials

4.CSCA (Undergraduate Academic Proficiency Test for Studying in China) transcript, with test subjects including English Mathematics and English Chemistry

◆Proof of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or other recognized tests: IELTS ≥ 6.0 with no band below 5.0; TOEFL ≥ 70 with no section below 15; Duolingo ≥ 105), or

VII. Application, Review, and Admission Process
1.Applicants must submit all materials online via the International Education College application system: https://wmu.at0086.cn/student
2.The School of International Studies will review all submitted materials. If qualified, a pre-admission notice will be issued through the system. Applicants should regularly check the system and their email.
(Review results are generally available within 10 working days.)
3.Official Admission Letters and the JW202 Visa Application Form will be issued successively between July and August.
(Receipt of the JW202 Form is regarded as confirmation of admission.)
VIII. Enrollment and Registration
1.In September, students must report to the university with the original admission documents. Specific arrangements will be provided in the registration notice.
Students unable to register on time must obtain prior approval. Failure to register without approval will be regarded as forfeiting admission.
2.Within three months of enrollment, the university will re-examine students’ identity, health status, and academic performance. Only those who meet the requirements will be formally registered; otherwise, admission will be cancelled.
