As the moon grew fuller over Wenzhou this September, so did the sense of community inside Classroom 7-12C. The International Exchange Club, under the School of International Studies (SIS) at Wenzhou Medical University, welcomed Chinese and international students together for "Clay Creations: Mooncakes & Jade Rabbits" — an evening that turned one of China's oldest festivals into a shared, hands-on experience. Doubling as a meet-and-greet for freshman students, the event gave newcomers an early and heartfelt introduction to campus life, long before textbooks or lecture halls ever could.

Instead of simply hearing about the Mid-Autumn Festival, students lived it — pressing clay into mooncake moulds, shaping jade rabbits by hand, and decorating each creation with quiet care. Around the tables, something more than crafts took shape: conversations bloomed between students who might never have otherwise met, tips were traded across languages, laughter broke out over lopsided rabbit ears, and questions about ancient legends were answered in real time by new friends. For a few hours, the classroom felt less like a venue and more like a small, warm world of its own.

By the time the last clay rabbit was set on the display tray, the room held more than finished artwork; it held the quiet beginnings of real friendships.
“May we all live long, and share this lovely moon together — even a thousand miles apart”On this Mid-Autumn evening at SIS, that same moon brought a room full of strangers just a little closer together.
