Chinese Government Scholarship Program

Chinese Government Scholarship Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or understandings reached between the Chinese government and the governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships to international students and scholars. MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

At present, the Wenzhou Medical University has the Chinese government scholarship qualification for the global recruitment of international students to study in China. The application can be sent to the country’s Chinese Embassy (Consulate General).


Categories of Applicants

Duration of Scholarship

Bachelor’s Degree Students

5 academic years

1. The instruction language is Chinese. Applicants are required to take one year Chinese language course prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified. Only by passing the examinations after the Chinese language course, could they start their academic studies.

2. Scholarship students should complete their study within the set time; scholarship duration specified in the admission notice CANNOT be extended in principle.


1.Tuition waiver;

2. Accommodation: free university dormitory(usually double room);

3. Stipend:

Bachelor’s students: CNY 2,500 per month;

Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive stipend from their host university month by month.

Students registering before the 15th of the month (the 15th included) will receive full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive half stipend of that month.

If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be stopped during his leaving.

To be eligible, applicants must:

-be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;

-be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.


1. Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in your home country for CGS opportunity. It is your own responsibility to consult the dispatching authorities for details and requirements of Bilateral Program in your country and make sure you are eligible for the scholarship.

2. Complete the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students, submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship and print a hard copy.

3. Submit all your application documents to the dispatching authorities in your home country before the deadline.

4. Only applications of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered. No other applications or individual application directly sent to CSC will be considered. Candidates holding Pre-admission Letter will be placed in the host university; those without Pre-admission Letter should accept CSC’s placement of university.



The applicants must fill in and provide two sets of the following documents truly, correctly and completely (all in duplicate):

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in Chinese or in English).

Applicants shall fill in and print the application form after submitting it online.

The CSC Online Application System for Study in China is available on http://laihua.csc.edu.cn; Agency No. of Wenzhou Medical University is 10343.

2.Notarized highest diploma (photocopy);

Prospective diploma winners must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date.

Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English); This should be a minimum of 200 words for undergraduate students.

5.Valid documents of your legal guardians in China (only required for applicants under the age of 18);

6. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy) (written in English, only required for applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months);

The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid.

Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

Pleases keep the original copy of the Form for school registration.

10. Valid HSK Certificate (if available).


1. Application documents of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered by CSC for eligibility and qualification.

Ineligible or incomplete applications will not be considered.

2. Qualified applications will be sent to universities for placement. Candidates who are turned down by universities will not be granted with scholarship.

CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments/changes to candidate’s host university, field of study, supporting categories and duration of scholarship.

Applications enclosed with Pre-admission Letter will be sent to the universities who issued that Letter for placement confirmation.

3. CSC reviews the placement results, approves the List of Scholarship Winners and sends the admission documents to diplomatic missions before July 31st.

Each scholarship winner will be granted with no more than one scholarship.

4. The diplomatic missions will send the admission documents (Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201)) to the dispatching authorities or scholarship winners.

5. Scholarship winners shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study unless they give up the grant.

6. Scholarship will not be reserved if scholarship winner cannot register before the registration deadline.
